it makes a bussing sound. its very low, but its like an extremely low level of someone scratching on a chalk board. should i get this checked?

ok, i thought i'd mention i know nothing about computers. it's a laptop, and i dont know if they have the same things as normal computers, like fans or whatever. so yeah.

Hi
Most likely it's the hard disk. Only two things can make sound in a computer
1. hard disk
2. Fan
So to answer your question: if you dont know anything about computers especially hardware then take help of a friend and get it checked for any loose FAN and also just do a software diagnostics on your hard drive for READ ONLY TEST. Since you're doing it check the logs/alerts as well.
These things will satisfy my apetite for peace of mind and wont loose sleep over it.

i think u should get it checked...
but before that.. do the following things before getting it checked
1) use a vacume cleaner and cleane dust on the fans and mother-board.
2) make it sure that every thing is clean. oil the fans inside the PS.
3) switch it back on.
now the sound should be gone if u have cleaned it properly..
if sound still coming :(... then get it checked.....

could be your power supply in the laptop. I have to replace one on mu wife's computer. You may want to try cleaning the fan

Delete some things off of your c -drive. Send old things to the recycling bin.

try clearing the dust, that might be problem
other than that its probably the fan or that box thing at the corner
