It seems Nero asked a few Senators to give up their rental real estate so he could build a palace and they said no.

Then, out of the blue, the whole area caught fire and burned to the ground. Nero appeared unsurprised and immediately took steps after the fire to blame the Christians, then snap up the burned-out land quickly and build the palace he'd wanted in the first place.

Nero wanted to do away with the Catholics of Rome. So he started a fire which ravaged about 1/4 of Rome before it was put out. Nero successfully blamed this on the Catholics, and so started their presecution in Rome. In Greek, Nero's name spelled out looked like the numbers 666. For this reason, 666 is thought to be associated with the Devil.

basically Nero wanted to rebuild Rome, since Nero was mental in a extreme way ,he had his guards(but this is unproven)start a fire. back then Rome's streets and houses were very close together, the fire spread very fast, and the city burned(was not the first time though)it is said that while Rome was afire the crazy Nero stood on top of his palace(i think it was his palace)and played his violin, alot of people died, and many I'm not sure how much burned, but it was a 1/3 of Rome maybe, anyways, days after the fire rumors on who started the fire spread,it is also said the fire was started by the Christians, back then the Christians were the terrorist of the times,(yes its documented truth),and they started the fire, but i do believe it was Nero,he rebuilt Rome, built himself a nice huge new house, and i believe they also redid the layout so if another fire broke out it would not spread so fast....by the way Nero eventually killed himself, but not before making his horse a general i think it was....he was as crazy as a **** house owl.......incest child i think...

Nero was a concert violinist, but in secret. It was his private passion.

Anyway, he was performing a Vivaldi concerto at a little beatnick house not too far from the Colliseum and a big fire started in Rome.

Nobody knew where he was though, because he had never told anyone how much he loved to play the violin. And so they didn't know he was out performing.

It's a sad story. Nero, in the end, died and he became die-hard.

Um, I don't know what's up with the violin answer but that's definately not it. I'm pretty sure it's because he enjoyed firey crucifixations- lots of firey crucifixions.
