I think my cat may win the prize for noises. She uses every tone she can possibly come up with, and she makes a huge variety of noises. She hollers to wake me up, and if I don't get up she'll start making as much noise as she can by clawing a box in the room. As she's trying to ramp up the noise she's producing with her claws she looks back over her "shoulder" to see if its doing any good.
She does this really creepy, way-down-low (but not a growl by any means) thing where she seems to be attempting to use a human voice and make sounds as if she's trying to talk, but, of course, she can't form words. Its almost a squawky little talking sound. I have read that if you try to communicate with your cat by talking the cat will attempt to communicate back by using her voice.

I have 4 adult cats and 7 kittens, which are getting new homes - soon, anyway, each of them have thier own special meows, and one of them sounds really raspy - so yeah, they make wierd noise sometimes. Just like some people make weird noises.
