I just graduated from law school in May. Law school is typically 3 years long as a full time student, but if you sign up as a night student, it could run 3 1/2 to 4 years.

After you graduate, you will have to take the bar of whatever state you're in. This would consist of 2 months of non-stop studying and will be the most unpleasant time of your life.

It's also not for everyone. You should really be sure that you want to do this before you start. It is a lot of reading, particularly in the first year, and you will have to learn an entirely new way to approach problems and take tests. It will also cost you around $100,000 for the 3 years unless you can get scholarships, grants, or other things like that. So again, you really need to be sure it's what you want to do before you start.

Forgive me if my answer will discourage you, but the truth is the truth.

Law school is a long 3 years of heavy books and heavier tuition. While you will certainly learn more than you wish to learn, sometimes the amount of info you have to understand is just overwhelming. Get used to working your *** off for an entire semester and getting straight Cs. Students don't get Cs because they necessarily tested poorly or don't understand the material. Often it is because the professor (who graduated from an Ivy League law school and isn't the most humble) isn't easily impressed, or your classmates are great test takers, or a combination of both. For every class you take, you will have only one exam, usually all essay, and the end of the semester. That's your one chance to to earn your grade, and it's usually under timed conditions.

After you graduate, you will encounter the Bar exam which is the most ruthless exam devised by human beings. In most states it is a full two day affair dealing with proctors watching your every move. You will wait for 3-4 months to get the results, and, depending on your state, there's a decent chance you failed the 1st time. Many students take 3-4 times to pass the Bar. Considering that the exam is administered every 6 months, failing the Bar more than 3-4 times will put a dent in your career, earnings, etc.

Proceed with caution.

Not a lawyer but a few of my college friends went on to law school Just based on common knowledge, I believe it's three years after you already have a four year degree. Although I think you can test out and go directly into law school in some cases.

And um...I believe law school is considered to be long and hard.

If you come from a bioscience major you will find medical school's academic topics to be nothing new that you haven't seen before. The transition will be easy. On the other hand, with a non-science major it can be quite a tough transition (hence why medical schools prefer bioscience majors to begin with since they are less likely to wash out). The clinicals in med school can be tough in a non-academic sense, however.

I have a niece who just finished up last year. She had to take the bar exam twice because she didn't pass it the first time, and she is extremely bright. I don't know how hard the schooling is, but taking the bar they say is grueling.

Law school is really very easy. They only claim that it is hard to scare people away.

It is really only 5 weeks long.
