Personally, I would want to be at Ground Zero, and evaporated by the first bombs that hit. No way would I want to deal with the aftermath of radiation sickness, looting, contaminated food and water, uncertain medical and other basic supplies, and the grief of losing family members and friends. It would be just a nightmare scenario.

Don't believe me? Read "The Portable Phongraph" by Walter Van Tilburg Clark and see if you don't agree. Even though it was written before The Bomb was dropped, I think it paints an accurate, if terrifying portrait of the breakdown of civility that would follow a total war. Such a world is not anyplace I would want to live. Maybe that's selfish, but that's how I feel about it.

Into a wide open field or a hilltop. I grew up during the cold war,and the one thing I do remember is that the lucky ones will die fast and first. Don't believe it,read up on Chernobyl, Nagasaki, and Hiroshima. If it doesn't get me out in the open then I will be far enough away to survive on my own maybe. I think it was Einstein that said he didn't know how world war 3 would be fought,But he believed world war 4 would be fought with sticks and stones.

I think best place should be underground .Go and hide 10 to 20 feet below ground.

Many countries have prepared clothes similar to that of astronauts which save person from toxic nuclear rays.

so you can wear such clothes and go underground to safeguard your self from nuclear reaction.

I'd get me a lawn chair and a case of beer and go sit on a hill and watch the show. Then I'd build me one of those cool Mad Max cars.
