I love them but there are many who feel less strongly. Even in my middle-age group, many prefer (or preferred, when they did listen to rock music) a heavier sound like Led Zepplin; I thought their lyrics were trite. And I prefer happy music like the Beatles made.

I would think possibly the WW2 generation that had to listen to their children blasting the Beatles and other so called "rock n' roll" music...

Yes.. my dad is 68 and he said the Beatles were not all that great.
Their musical talent was not all that great. They just happened to come into the scene at the right time.
