Every single answer in here has a perfect description for signs of an abusive man. . even the comment of "There's no beer in the refrigerator" because if he is in fact abusive, that would definitely piss him off! So..Just like MsLongBeach says... the abuse only gets worse.. and it's no different for anyone in that situation, so don't let him tell you 'it will stop' because GUARANTEED..It Won't! In fact 99% sure it won't.

Controlling behavior. Trying to isolate you from your friends and family.
Most important thing to remember, "A man never hits a woman just once!" If any man ever lays a hand on you in anger, Get Out!!! Each time he abuses you it will only get worse!!!

Easy to anger, quick to judge or insecure about himself and the future. People who have low self esteem tend to be abusive. The problem is so do people who like themselves too much because they feel they deserve more. Let whoever you get with know that you will not put up with abuse, verbal or physical.

It could start with mental abusive such as calling you names or putting you down and then become physically abusive, which can be anything from grabbing you or hitting you. Basically if you feel threatened at all, seek help.

It could be many things.
One - disrespect of any kind. In general.
Then - a whole bunch of little things.
He "misinterprets" what you have said, keeps in mind something toatlly different and then gets angry at you for not following what's in his head.
He jumps subjects in the arguments, like "Howcome you you didn't do the dishes. You whole life is like this".
He bullies you.

A man that starts to belittle you, treat you like dirt, wants to know where you are at every moment, gets angry at you for no reason, doesn't want your friends around, or your friends start telling you to get out of the relationship, and on and on and on....Then he'll slap or hit you, then tell you how bad he is and he'll never do it again.........RUN RUN FAR AWAY !!!!

Possessiveness - if he won't let you have your own friends, spend time away from him, etc. then he will be more likely to verbally and mentally abuse his partner.
