1.) Am I correct in thinking a regular ear piercing is either a 20ga or an 18ga?

2.) When moving up to the next size, how long should you keep the new ring in your ear? If not constantly, when would you take it out?

3.) Approximately how long does it take to get a 00ga?

1) Yes you are correct about the regular size.

2) Keep the new size in for about 2days, depending on how quickly you want to get to 00ga. If you have time, leave in for at least two weeks. It gives the ears more time to strecth properly. You really want to avoid bleeding, that can really slow down the strecthing process, as you have to deal with infections. Once in, leave in until next strecthing process.

3) Depends on you. I went back and forth 3 times already.

Suggestion- regular size first. Using captive bead rings take it down to a 14ga. After about 4 days, use captive bead rings again to get to a 10 ga. After the pain lets off and the earrings spin freely with out hurting your ear, switch to a taper and and go down to a 6 ga. Then from 6 to 00 you will want to go 4, 2, 0, 00. Those are the hardest ones to do with out tearing the skin. On every strecth, use triple antibiotic ointment to lubricate with, incase of tearing the skin, this will stop infection from the get go.

Good luck with getting noticeable tunnels!!!

I think you can move as fast as you want to...it will just be more painful the larger you go. I believe regulars are a 20ga. I went from a 20 to a 14 by just putting the earring through. It hurt, but it healed in about a week.

1. yes you are correct

2. best to wait around 4 to 6 weeks, some people can stretch quickly others cant. The faster you try to go the more damage your going to do which could create problems stretching or lead to infections from forcing the jewelry-tearing. While stretching up, do not remove the new jewelry it'll just shrink back down and you've accomplished nothing. once the new jewelry moves FREELY in the lobe, isn't painful , and possibly if you can pull on it and see some open area between the jewelry and lobe, then your ready to move up a size. It also helps to do warm sea salt soaks to relax the lobe after you insert bigger jewelry and to help it heal and be a happy ear
3. from a standard post probably a year.....this is not going quickly and possibly damaging your ear, but taking it slow and doing it CORRECTLY

yeah i think normal earrings are 20ga. i used to have mine at a 6 then stopped and now they're normal size, and i changed sizes once a week. keep them in as long as possible throughout the day, i don't see when you would have to take them out except maybe if your school or parents don't allow it. it depends on how often you change your sizes, it would probably take a couple of months to get to a 00, but you can change them out quicker for faster results.

hope all is going well, take care!
