We seem to last between 5 to 7 years. The new software programs keep taking up more and more memory, so the day you purchase a new computer, the minute you walk out the store with it, it is already outdated in terms of storage space. Making software programs as described above is exactly what the manufacturing companies want. They want you to upgrade within about that time frame or sooner, that's why they design it that way!

Depends on what you do with it. If you play bleeding edge games that require the fastest CPUs and videocards, probably every year. If you just browse the internet and use email, then every 2-5 years. Windows Vista is supposed to be very steep with regards to hardware.

There is no need to buy a new computer until your previous one ran out of order. You can just upgrade your system each year.

I'm still using a 6 years old P3 PC, juz upgraded the RAM, it all depends on what u'll use it for.....

I usually get one every 3 years.
but i load so much crap onto it that its pretty much dead by that time.
