i have an item that you've always wanted. it's not important what the item is, just pick something, its for the continuity of the riddle you see? anyway here is the riddle.

i have a (fill in the blank) and i tell you that if you want it you have to do the folowing; there are 3 gates, after the 3rd gate there is an apple tree, if you want the (fill in the blank) you have to go to the apple tree and pick as many apples as you want, but... when you come back through the gates you must leave half of your apples and half of an apple at each gate. after you pass the last gate you must not have any apples left. how many apples would you have to pick?

i hope i worded this understandably.
