My company matches up to 5% of 401k after 1 year of service. Is there any possible way to have them match it sooner than 1 year? Yes I know I should ask H.R., but I'm curious now and dont feel like waiting till Monday.

no because they set rules on what they want to do and when they want too.

My co. matches after you are eligible for benefits. That is typical for some companies.

No. When the 401k was set up, the rules were decided and the company is absolutely not allowed to make exceptions.

If you know of executives with immediate matching, you may be able to negotiate this with HR. Succeeding in this is, unfortunately, unlikely.
