Who cares what they think. You shouldn't have to change your last name for other people. Be proud of your name.

Thats right..Mexican the new Black. You guys have got to get over your hatred for all things different.. You have a Spanish name, because your ancestors came from somewhere else.. no biggie..

I have the opposite problem. I'm an American Indian - born so but not raised as one - I have a Germanic sur name. Some time ago I applied for a job - a really, really very good one! - and I guess I looked good on paper as I was called in for a face to face. Once there the interviewer asked me about my heritage and I explained it just as I did here, then they asked if I could prove it! Apparently the gov't gives some kind of credit to firms hiring minorities. I've never thought of myself as a minority. And I didn't get the job. As a result I carried documents of proof with me. I finally got a very good job - Air Traffic Controller. Still, it's all petty and pathetic! Be who and what you are. If someone has an issue let it be their issue, let them deal with it!

uh, I have a French name but I'm not French. So what if your name is Mas e' mucho? Do you REALLY care what others think? If you do, then you need to get that big "I" off your chest and quit thinking about "me" all the time and do something good with the time you spend worrying over what others think. Oh, and get a new set of "friends" 'cause baby, them ain't the kind of people you can call "friend".

leave your last name as is. don't change it to please anyone.
if you look WAY back into your family tree, you most likely had someone in your fam that was of spanish decent, from spain...maybe.
like, my parents are mexican, but that doesn't really mean they're MEXICAN MEXICAN of the culture. Like grandparents could have been Egyptian, but moved to Mexico, and my father was born in mexico. he's of mexican nationality, but she's not mexican mexican. u know. i hope you get what i'm saying.
keep your last name, be proud of it.

I will tell you what to do if you tell me what to do. I am Sicilian and Black and I am mistaken for Mexican all the time. Even Mexicans walk up to me speaking Spanish and get a look of total betrayal on their faces when I respond to their queries in English.

I have a Hispanic last name and I love it. I get a kick out of people trying to figure me out. I'm blonde with fair skin and blue eyes. Don't tell them anything, keep them guessing.

Tell them to mind their own business. Lots of people have last names the represent a race or culture that they don't necessarily belong to. You shouldn't have to lie, if people want to beleive you are lying, then they aren't really people you should be considered about talking to.
