Black mamba is the most poisonous land-based snake but the sea snake is the most poisonous water-based snake.

But a land snake that many consider to be the most venomous is the inland taipan (pictured). Its bite can contain enough venom to kill 200,000 mice. It is the sea snake. It's not given credit simply because it's teeth are too small to puncture a human's skin.
