I'm turning 16 in May and I really want to have a sweet 16. My sister had one 2 years ago and my mom hasn't said much about me having one. She told me that I should just have one at 18, but I moved here last year and have a few friends and aren't really close with them (more like aquaintances). So I was hoping that if I have a sweet 16 then that would help me bond with people. I don't know how to work this out. Any advice please??? time is running out.. it takes a lot of planning.

I mean like a kind of traditional sweet 16 with 16 candles and roses. That kind of thing.. Where you have to get 16 girls and 16 guys and schedule dance practices.

You're right...planning a party like this does take alot of time...so starting it..or thinking about it with 8 months to go...is pretty good...one way you could bring up the subject is by looking in magazines...or when u pass by pretty dresses...drop hints that..."oh, that would look cute as my sweet 16 dress"...subtle things like that help...and then once you've dropped a few...let your parents know ur serious about it...and usually they'll help you out a whole bunch!!!...hope it helps!

um... i actually did nothing for my sweet 16. my mom had to go to work and my dad's not at home. no cakes, just birthday songs from mom and my friendz at school. i also received some presents and money. i felt quite disappointed about that afterwards cuz many of my friends have party or things like that. they went to mall and had dinner outside then i felt so sad...:(
i wish you will have a happy sweet 16 anyways. :)
you can send invitation and ask ur friends out to mall or Karaoke or something fun. then come back home and have dinner and cake.
