Hi, I have a high speed broadband connection, as of lately i have noticed my computer slower then usual, I pressed " ctrl + alt + delete " & found i had at least 40 processes with odd names, like aptixx24.exe, or MASCuix.exe, would this be virus's and if so how do i remove them permanently ?
IS there anything i can download that will specifically target whatever they are and clear them from my computer?

Some of them may be viruses or spyware. You should have one and only on Firewall, one and only one Antivirus, and at least one Antispy program, preferably several.

Two good free antivirus programs: AVG and Avast!
Two full-featured free antispy programs: Spybot S&D and Ewido.

Download and install them, let them get the latest updates, then reboot into Safe Mode and run them all.

You can also use HijackThis to get a list of all these processes and toolbars and the like, and post it for someone knowledgeable to advise you.

ati2ptxx has to do with the ATI video card, while atidrvxx is part of a virus. I've never seen aptixx24 or mascuix.

A slow computer doesn't always mean a Malware infection. Most of the time it is due to a cluttered computer. Do the following procedures first and see if it improves.

Cleaning your computer.

Clean your Browser Cache:

Tools>Internet Options>General tab>Delete Cookies, Files and Clear History buttons.

Go to the Sites button by Temp. Files and change the number to 50.

Check your HD for Defragmenting:

Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools> Disk Defragmenter.

Clear Temp. Windows Files:

Exit the browser and all running programs including those in system tray (next to clock) except your AV and AS programs. Exiting these might be necessary later (not usually).

Start>Run> type "%temp%" (no quotes)>OK> in the menu bar "Edit" click Select All>in the expanded menu select Delete or right click on the pane with the files highlighted and select Delete. If it cannot delete a file you need to close another program>Close window.

Clear clutter in DSL modem (If used) and RAM:

Turn off the modem, computer and monitor in this order. Wait a minute or two and then restart in reverse order. Turning off he computer and monitor clears the RAM of clutter.

Now see if the speed has improved.

Go here and read about and then download the free trial of WinTasks5 Pro. It will tell you about all the processes running and whether they are needed or not, plus if they are associated with a Malware infection.

While you are at this site click on the Privacy and Security tab and read the entire site. You need a basic education in protecting your computer and this site will give you that education. When you are done, you will have knowledge as to what programs you need on your computer to protect it.

The free scans and removal programs at this site might be able to remove any infections you might have.

restart your computer. hit the f8 key untill you get a list, scroll down to safe mod. this will start the same but its in safe mod so if you have a virus thay can't see nor do anything to stop you.

when it loads run all scans you got.

i recomend norten/samantec, spybot search and destroy, and addaware.

if you wanna pay buy spywear doctor or spy sweeper.

also why the scans are runing go to controll panel and delete the program that is the virus. unlessyou can't see it.

leave this up to scans. when the scans are done hit "controll alt delete" go to process then end all process.

restart your computer and it should be fixed.

i recomend downloading zone alarm. this will make it harder on any virus.

if it still there go to start, all programs, accesorries, tools, backup. then rebuild you computer.

if this still doesnt fix the problum take it to your local computer shop.

best of luck
