It depends on the person but there are basically 2 lines of thought when it comes to this.
1. Some will think she is probably a strong, independent, self sustaining person who doesn't feel the need to answer to anyone else.

2. She has had a bad experience with marriage before through someone else, either her parents, other family members or friends and is afraid to make the commitment herself because of it.

I also do not plan on ever getting married. Everyone around me questions my sexual preference because of the decision that I have made for myself. I do not have a desire to ever have children as well. My culture looks at me as a deviant because of it. Mexicans are known to have a large family. So when a girl decides not to make a family, the men only look at you to pass the while.

If not being married is something that you plan on doing. Stick with it. I met 2 people not so long ago [man and woman]. Let me tell you that I love the life that they lead. The lady [elderly] has her own business establish. And I find it hard to belive that she is a virgin!!
Tha man [elderly] owns his own home and lives alone. He lives so comfortably because everything that is inside his home belongs to him and only him. He does not have the worry that it one day might be taken away by his wife. He never had any children. Both of them never did. I loved the lived that they have lead until now.
I take them as very good examples.

I think that's a perfectly viable choice, I have never been married, I have had several "long" reationships, but never had any desire to be married. what is the big deal anyway, there might be a few benifits to a surviving spouse in the event of a death, but other than that, Why. Unmarried people can still be faithfull, and dedicated to each other. I cant see many GOOD reasons for it, myself. I heard the other day that the average wedding costs over Ten thousand dollars! and many much more than that! What a way to start your relationship off in debt! no thanks!

If a woman has no desire to get married its her prerogative. Some women dream of marriage while others don't. People are always going to have their own opinions. Its all up to the person.

I'd think she was BRILLIANT!

Women's roles are changing drastically in society and it is important for a woman to define herself as an individual first to a wife.

Plus, with a 50% divorce rate, the institution of marriage is pointless. If you love someone you don't need some paper to reinforce that. It will be known each day you wake up in each others arms by free will.

There's nothing wrong wit that! I mean, cos 75 percent of marriages fail anyway! I mean like divorces and separations! It's also great to be independent! It's no biggie, but in da bible and Quran (if I might add) God said dat it's a blessing to get married and an even greater one to have kids! Well think twice b4 u make ur final decision!

I would hope that they would see her as smart, clever, intelligent, and with priorities. I personally won't ever marry. I don't believe in divorce and there has been a few offers but I said no and guess what?? They aren't around anymore so that must prove something. I'm not a lady-in-waiting for mr right. I'm me and I'm just fine where I am.

I think that it is not my right to think that any other person should be married. If someone likes being single and is comfortable with it, then more power to them. (What I hate are all those morons who constantly try suggesting you are gay because you aren't as miserable as all the married folks!)
