I'll start, I admit I listen to just a little, mostly Kid Rock, but as a whole it gets a BIG FAT "1" on my scale.
1 ::: MOST RAP IS AWFUL.....AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS
2 ::: SOME RAP IS GOOD.....BUT MOST ISN'T ..I'LL LEAVE IT
3 ::: SOME RAPS GREAT ....SOME RAPS NOT SO GOOD
4 ::: RAP RULES......FREQUENT LISTENER
5 ::: RAP NEVER LEAVES MY CD ROTATION

Jumping between 2 and 3. The quality of the rap is dependent upon: the lyrics, the quality of the overall song, whether the song is ego-centric or not, and if the person can rap at all! For example, Robbie Williams raps but he tries to be gangster - now that is tooooo far!

I rate 3... cause just like any other genre of music-there are many different styles of rap that you can choose from to listen to. There is old school, new school, underground and freestyle battles, baller rap, gangster , east coast & west coast style, dirty south, lyrical, and conscious rap, Christian rap and the list goes on. Commercial radio plays a very small selection of what is actually available to choose from. You have to find the style that you can best relate to and rock it!

I'll rate it a 3. Good rap is great, bad rap is awful. I think the reason that you rate rap so poorly is that a). you listen to Kid Rock, and b). you think that whatever the hell Kid Rock is doing is actually rap.
