black history month? ok, fair is fair. when is it white history month? equal is equal, yes? am i to be ashamed of my race and heritage? meanwhile any and all other races and ethnicities are meant to be proud?

I can't believe people are still bringing this up. Here is a question define "white" cluture independant of the color of your skin. The French aren't white, the French are French they have a cultural history independant of the color of their skin; the Germans aren't white, the Germans are German they have a cultural history independant of the color of their skin; the Italians aren't white, the Italians are Italian they have a cultural history independant of the color of their skin. The French history and culture isn't the German history and culture isn't the Italian history and culture.

I know plenty of Irish Americans and Italian Americans who have pride in their culture. They don't say they're white, they say they are Irish or Italian. That is their real culture, there is a lot to be proud of. It is always the Dutch Americans or German Americans that talk about being "white." Geeze, why don't they have real pride in their cultures? Why don't they proclaim the fact that they are Dutch or German? Why do they have to lump themselves with other races as if ashamed to proclaim their own race under this false designation of "white." Could it be because the Dutch introduced slavery into the states, and the Germans introduced nazism into the world? With a history like that I would be ashamed to say I'm from those cultures. Hell, I would create some false sense of solidarity with other races and change my race to "white" To me that's bull-**** and it disgusts me.

"Pride" of any sort is not okay when it is used as a mask for blatant racism. We have black & latino history months because it is a way of introducing these parts of history into the curriculum. We all know who writes the history books - the winners. In this case, Anglos. I am proud to be white, but I like all races too. I think black chicks are sexy, and I hang out with black dudes too. The Asian girls are the sexiest, and the people are great. I work with many. Really, I like all sorts of people.

There are times I feel proud to be white. I have a coat of arms from Ireland and am proud to show it to anyone who is interested.
