Yes long distance relationships can work, it takes a lot of trust but it is possible. And now days there are lots of ways to keep incontact with each other that doesn't cost you alot of money. It just depends on how much you love the person and how much they love you. Good Luck :)

I presume relationship here involving man-woman relationship outside a family. Also considering the physical intimacy.
Long distance relationship for a short term period is considered one of the factor in strengthening the bond between two persons.
But if goes for a long period, it acts inversely. It is said that more the distance from your eye, more the distance from mind too.
So in practical sense it is not acceptable. But if you argue from the platonic side, lots of our literatues are made out of it.

It depends on how much love and trust that you have for that person. I it is someone that you just met I wouldn't put so much into it.
