I would lay $50 bucks down right now that not a single person who has responded to your question has ever faced a life and death situation from the barrel of an enemy rifle in the name of “Freedom”.

This quote from the Civil War was used more as a slogan than as a famous quote to emphasize the role as a solider in battle. If one was not willing to make a sacrifice and fight for the privilege to live in a free country then those individuals did not deserve to have a country.

It really plain disgust me to see how short-sighted people are. They will always answer the same; me, me, me, and mine, mine, mine. when confronted with something like this. This quote holds just as much historical significance today as it did two-hundred years ago. All of your responders except one haven’t a clue to what they are saying nor did they bother to investigate it. I don’t really blame it on the younger folk, but direct it towards the faltering education system in America. What a scam!!!

In either case this quote is all about making the sacrifice of blood for something one believes in. I have personally lived this quote in two different combat conflicts in the name of my country and flag.

God bless you and have a great day!

I think that is true. To state the reverss: if you have something that is worth fighting for, then you should have it. This makes sense. It is a wise quote that goes both ways telling you that life is a battle and you must set a goal and discipline yourself to get it otherwise you should not have thought about it in the first place.
The cogito-"I think therefore I am" thiis quote tells you that you know you exist because you can think much as you know that something is worth a lot because you are fighting hard for it.

No, we use things all the time that aren't worth fighting for-Q-tips, Tupperware, Toilet Paper. Makes no sense whatsoever. If you had to fight for every item you own and use, there would be a lot of dead bodies and no one to use the items.

It can definately be true when dealing with certain things..important issues....but I don't believe it is always true! Because not everything everyone has is worth fighting for, right? And that should not mean that you shouldn't have it..at least in my opinion.

you won't be able to discover it because of the fact he did no longer say it. possibly a pope from the midsection a while had a remark like that, however the popes i comprehend of did no longer say that. in certainty, it grow to be the Protestant denominations that claimed that Catholics weren't genuine Christians. That, too, isn't any longer one among their claims. fortuitously, the church homes have finally come to their senses that people who've accepted Christ as their Savior are Christians and the Church they attend, see you later it preaches the be conscious, is a Christian based employer.

no, i dont believe it is true. there are very few things in life that are truly worth fighting for, and almost none that are worth dying for. according to that quote's logic, people shouldn't own houses, cars, most pets, etc.

Nonsense ... you have a lot of things that you wouldn't fight for, the ones that you would fight for may be more important to you but don't give up on the little ones ... they may be important too.

No, the quote is stupid. Have all of it.

i believe it's true! because if you never relize the worth of someone and/or something...how are you truely going to know if it the person for you...or that it's truely something you need!!! if you won't fight for it give it up, because the fight is worth it for someone else. and it purely selfish to hold on to something you don't care enough to hold on to

Weird. Don't agree. Our life is a mosaic of many, many things. Not all of them are of a significance to go down to the mat for. Life should not be viewed as a battlefield.
