Every so often when I use air freshener the smell stays in my nose for awhile. I guess it is concentrated and I am breathing a little in. Is this harmful?

It's not helpful, but probably no worse an irritant than air pollution.

Not unless you are sniffing it with intent. A little bit here and there is no reason for concern. If the scent stays in your nose, then isn't that an indication that the freshener is doing its job? If you mean it makes you itch and sneeze, then you might be allergic to it. Change fresheners & try another kind. If that doesn't help, then go back to basics such as arm & hammer.
