That's a tough one. There is Slash from Guns N' Roses the solo from Sweet Child O' Mine is amazing. Joe Perry is the S-hit (he lives a mile or two from my friend). And of course you can't forget Eddie Van Halen. The man is a legend. There are so many greats out there you can't just pick one. But personally I'm a big Aerosmith fan so I have to go with Joe Perry.

Go online and listen closely to Yngwie (ing-vay) Malmsteen. For my money, he cannot be touched. Nobody does covers of his music because they can't. But if I had to bring it down to mortal levels, my favorite is Steve Vai. For some fun guitar playing, rent the movie "Crossroads" with Ralph Maccio. It features a guitar battle at the end between Vai and Maccio (actually Ry Cooder playing) that is awesome!
