when a bone fractures, the normal blood supply is interrupted and a hematoma forms - that is like a mass of blood in the fractured region. if the bone is not aligned with the other "half", there will be no nutrients to the bone an the bone wont heal. cause of the misalignment can be that there was movement of the bone during the healing process or an infection occurred. some viruses may cause death of the bone and even bacteria that gets into the blood stream. you have to talk to your specialist to find out which one may have caused the bone to die as he/she has the x-ray and mri

Apparently the fracture impaired circulation to a bone in your foot. Is this doctor a Podiatrist or an Orthopedist? Go with the Orthopedic guy. He is an MD and your best bet for appropriate treatment. Are you able to walk? Obtain the written report from the Radiologist also to make sure everyone is on the same page. I hope you get better soon.

The bone (probably a fragment) has lost it's normal blood supply.
