No, it will not if you just follow the exact prescription. It can help you feel better emotionally and mentally. However, make sure that this is only temporary and not something that you'll have to take over a period of time. You should avoid being dependent on drugs to cure your anxiety problem. A good option would be to take herbal medicine. You can search the Internet for this subject. You may find this site useful: http://www.naturalremediesonline.net Cheers!

Wow, you're on so many depressing meds it's easy to see why you've felt this way. If the doctors that you are currently seeing now are ineffective, you may want to find new ones. We have the right to actually interview potential doctors prior to chosing them. I can understand your frustration, having fibromyalgia and feeling that you'll need meds for the rest of your life to endure the pain, however have you gone to any pain management clinics and disscused and/or tried more conventional options, such as a spinal cord stimulator, epidural injections, sympathetic nerve blocks, tens unit, etc.? If not, perhaps this may be a great place to start, as your health improves your mental state should improve with it. The other thing you may find helpful is joining support group(s) for your specific ailment, you'll be able to find people that are enduring many of the same things you are, and often just being able to discuss the hardships somehow lighten your load emotionally. If you're unable to travel, there certainly are many support groups & forums, here on yahoo or google around and find the one(s) most suitable for you and start venting and sharing info, hopefully you'll learn new approaches at ridding of the pain and then ridding of that infamous black hole. I wish you the best of luck, and I certainly hope you find the answers and help in which you need. As a dear friend once said to me - "don't settle". You can't change a thought, but you can always change the thought process, i.e. try flipping the coin if it's on tails, find a reason to see the positive.

Of course the taking anxiety pill will make you worse. Doctors are famous for making their Patience's worse. It is not the reason you go to the expert of medicine. You need to get worse. Doctors have no idea how to treat you or how to help you. But we the unknowing and untrained specialist of no medicine and your history of illnesses, have the right answer for you.
It is a proven fact that people on here always want to help you and give you the right and easy answer to your problems and illnesses. Where do you think the Doctors get their answers to medical problems. They only go to school for 10 or 12 years and practice making patience well for many years after that. They only want to make you worse so that you will keep coming back to them. Like they need the patients.
I am being fascias, my dear take your medicine. The Doctor has your best interest at heart. If you had a broken finger nail would you go to a car repair place to fix it. I think not.
It is always best to follow the directions of your Doc. That way if you do and something goes wrong you can sue him for lots of money and retire.
If we give you the wrong information you are out of luck. You can't sue us. Just kidding'
Follow your Doctors instructions. You will be better.

Some medications to treat depression or anxiety actually increase symptoms or create side effects. Your doctor should arrange for a follow-up within a week or two of starting medication. You should also monitor your own response to the medication, noting any possible side effects and call your doctor if you have any concerns. Some people notice a very postive impact almost immediately from beginning a medication. With other cases, it takes time to accumulate the medication in one's system. This med is just one possible solution. Try it, and if it doesn't work comfortably ask your doctor to assist you in finding other medication or lifestyle changes to manage your anxiety.

I don't know if you're into natural remedies, but I have a book called "The Complete Illustrated Holistic Herbal" by David Hoffmann, and according to it, it says the best herbal remedies for anxiety are Skullcap and Valerian. They don't have side effects, and they're safe to take with prescriptions. The best kind to get is the liquid form, and if you don't want to taste it, you just use the dropper to put it in an empty capsule. Oh yeah, Valerian is also good for pain and if you need help getting to sleep. It doesn't make you drowsy or anything, I mean it just helps calm you down. =)
I've tried a few rememdies for other things from that book and so far, everything's worked, so it'll probably work for you too. =) The brand of herbal extracts I usually get are Gaia Herbs and Nature's Answer. You get them and the empty capsules from natural food stores. I'll include the link to the book and the herb websites for you below. =)

if you are suffering from anxiety to the point that it's interfering with your normal life, then meds are a definite bonus. I take xanax, its in the bezodiazapam family..most anti anxiety meds are. Im guessing he's gonna start you on adivan *lorazepam* cuz its one of the lower strength kinds. But no, it wont make you worse. It may or may not help, but it isnt going to hurt you. Lets just hope it gives you some relief

I do hope you mean anti-anxiety drug. I took clonopin for about a year when I was having panic attacks and I felt that it was a really cool drug. Meaning that I didn't feel weird, just relaxed. There was a backlash, however, when a medical doctor decided that it was a dangerous drug and abruptly decreased the dosage from three to one time daily. I ended up in the hospital after passing out. It is a drug that needs to be monitored and the dosage decreased gradually. The final and utmost healing came from God. I kept praying over my anxiety and over a period of time it stopped.

Good lord! I do hope you mean an anti-anxiety medication. If you have anxiety, why would he want to give you an anxiety pill? If he really does, then yes, it might make you worse!

i take them, and they are a blessing when used properly under doctors care. You may have to try different dosages or brands when you first start out but don't get discouraged.. Follow your doctors advice carefully. keep him informed about any changes in how you feel Pay attention to warnings about driving drinking alcohol etc. make sure you tell the doctor and pharmacist about any other medications you may be taking, including over the counter stuff to avoid any negative interactions. Good Luck

if your doctor prescribes you anti-anxiety meds, use it for a little whil - usually 3 to 6 months, but try not to think of it as your only way to get through the day, try to think of it as a helper as you yourself have to get a bit more relaxed with your own mental strength. usuallu doctors giva an anti-depressant and an anxiety pill in one - it calms u and makes sure u get the right amount of serotonin uptake and other substances as well. you have to get mentally strong and calmed to prevent you from getting addicted.
