x component is 42newtons times cos 38 degrees=34.7 newtons. Work done= 34.7 newtons times 800 metres=27760 joules.

The x-component of the force would be calculated by using

Fx= Fcos(38)

as for the work done, assuming it's constant force and not going all over the place then it'd just simply be

W=(Fx)d

where d would be your 0.8 km

x={42[cos(38)]}
work done=0.800x
