Pluto is still in the solar system but it's not considered as a standard planet anymore because it's too small - it's a dwarf planet. Scientists discovered 2 other dwarf planets next to Pluto (Ceres and UB313) so instead of adding the other dwarf planets (including one discovered 3 years ago) in the list of planets that we already know, they just take off Pluto off the list (they might other dwarf planets, who knows) by saying that it's too small to be considered as a standard planet.

Pluto was classified as a planet for years and they have come up with pictures a long time ago that support the the idea of pluto as a moon or satelite rather than a planet. yet to here of another planet though.. or at least a name for it.

at an astronomer's convention this was hottly debated.... at first they were going to keep things "as is" -- but because of several factors, "demoted" pluto (which still exists) -- to a dwarf planet status -- because of size, inconsistant orbit, and the fact that two other "dwarf planets" (one that is bigger than pluto) were discovered. There are a lot of other criteria they went through to change this. Nothing is changed, really though. It is still where it is, and people will still refer to it as a planet in our solar system.

Pluto is still there. A bunch of scientists decided to change the defination of a planet, and that defination leaves Pluto out. Now, Pluto is a 'dwarf planet'.

Nope, the international association decided pluto is not a planet, so throw away your encyclopedias and textbooks. Pluto is just a dwarf. But there is some talk about how there may be some "new" planets to be named later.

LOL!! next you would be telling us that astrology is erroneous because of the fact the Earth isn't the middle of the universe. It amazes me while human beings declare an interest in astrology yet fail to renowned that's maximum ordinary premise. Astrology is a language of symbols. inclusive of while we are saying Mercury is retrograde. Mercury isn't surely shifting backwards. It purely seems to be and is symbolic on the point of the psyche. Pluto is an substantial area of our psyche and continually would be no count number what all of us in a junior severe technology type says. If something Pluto's declassification symbolizes a denial of those factors human beings that are ruled by Pluto. that's an thrilling preamble to Pluto stepping into Capricorn the place it is going to rather shake up society customarily. It pertains to Jung's theory of the Shadow. What we deny approximately ourselves will reek havok in our lives. Did I lose you? So sorry. maybe you will get one in all your instructor to describe it for you. smile

Whatever u have heard is right. It is no longer considered to be a member of our planetary system. Because of its smaller and other consideration that it doesn't have much influence on the other planets especially the orbit of Neptune, it is now down graded as dwarf planet.

Yes, Pluto IS still one of the planets in our solar system, what may have confused you is the recent discovery of a 10th planet in this system that is hidden behind one of Pluto's moons. (The new planet is only believed to be there and is yet un-named)
