Girls shouldn't wear make up in the first place. How does putting blue around your eyes make you feel sexy? It doesn't make you look better and no make up does. Just go without and you'll look better.

That is really dependent upon the girl. tinted lip gloss as young as 12 or 13, some light foundation or concealer at 13 or 14, foundation and blush, some natural neutral shadows at 14-15. I think the heavy eye stuff, liner and mascara should wait till 16 years old. It makes girls look older, and little girls (preteen esp.) don't need that. It also takes some patience and maturity to apply it correctly. Throw a Mary Kay class for your daughter when she's ready. It's a fun way to teach her how to apply her makeup so that it's natural, not trashy, AND as a bonus, the consultant will usually give you some free gifts or give you a break on the price and you could buy her some stuff. Make sure she knows NEVER to share her makeup with her friends, especially the eye stuff. She could get infections.

That depends on the girl and her parents, and how much she wants to wear.

At 12, I think light cosmetics could be allowed. Nothing on the face though. They can clog pores and encourage early skin problems. Light eye makeup and/or lip color would be acceptable.

At 14 I think powders could be used for light facial coverage, and a little more on the face and eyes. Maybe lipstick instead of lip gloss.

At least 16 before any concealer, foundation. By then she will have an idea about how to apply cosmetics, so she probably won't be as inclined to put a heavy layer on. She'll also have more reasons to wear makeup, like formals and blemishes.

It's really a decision that the parents have to make with their daughters.

I guess the best thing is no make-up on the face, unless you have rough skin and not fairy skin tones and so on.

Make up is for something to cover the shortage on your face but not a necessary to do it depend on your age. But what I care should be sunblock lotion, especially you have PE class. I suggest you start apply sunblock lotion around age 13-14 when needed. Because long time expose to the sun will increase the chance of getting dimples on your cheek without sunblock protection,

And you can start apply light, natural looking make-ups after 16 if needed.

look. on the real. i have i daughter. i dont plan on letting her use make-up until shes about 16. her mom thinks otherwise. and the truth is that coming from a guys point of view, these girls dont need to be wearing make-up when they are 12-13 or whatever. it just gives the wrong impression and makes them look older. it makes them prime bait for sleezy guys. if u want ur 12 year old getting caught up with a 16 or older boy, then sure, go right ahead. make-up is meant to make you prettier or more attractive right? so answer me this. what the hell business does a 12 year old little girl have with that. trust me, be responsible parents. now if you want to show her how to do her eyebrows or whatever thats something else. but a full on, make-up thing. like lipstick, blush, mascara, eyeshadow whatever. i dont think thats wise.

I know women who are so naturally beautiful, that anything added would only detract from their beauty.

I know other women, who really do need some help.

So, I would say, don't apply it 'til you need it. If you're really lucky--maybe never!

The naturally beautiful women are the luckiest, because the more you do to your face, the sooner you begin to age; and the less you do, the longer you stay naturally younger and beautiful.

Unfortunately, I'm not one of the natural beauties. I LOVED makeup when I was young; but, because I used it, I think I aged faster. Now, at 67 years old, I use a consealer for the dark circles under my eyes and some very light blush, dark blue eyeliner on lower lid (to make the whites of my eyes look whiter [gets the red out]); dark brown eyeliner, upper lid, eye shadow only special, evening occasions; mascara, no lipstick (my lips have vertical lines from aging, and my lips are thinner than they used to be, so don't want to attract attention to them). I used to use makeup, and looked pretty good with it; but, I don't use it anymore, 'cause my complexion is pretty good, and makeup was fun when I was young; now, it's just a pain. If I were young again, I think I'd use it just in the evening; not, in the daytime. People say I look young; mostly, I think they're just being nice; but, sometimes, I don't look too bad to myself. They invite me to go dancing with them, and I still attract men; so, I must be doing something right.

I began to use a very light lipstick at 13; and, added a little here, a little there, as I grew up. It's just a fun, girl, thing to do; but, I'd still rather have been one of the girls with natural beauty; I think I'd have fewer wrinkles and dark circles under my eyes, if I hadn't used makeup all my life.

I know two, young (20s) Chinese girls (I'm living in China) (who asked me what I think about them beginning to use makeup--neither of them do), both very pretty; one, naturally so--should never use ANYthing on her face; and the other one--doesn't use make up; but, I think she should. Her coloring isn't very contrasty; so she needs a little help--not much. She's very cute; but, just colorless. With just a little help, she'd be a knockout.
