australia brick flats driving me crazy, not used to have to drill, is their some other way.

Try sinking a nail, like in the link below, into the mortar joint. No drilling necessary, and only a bit more effort than sinking it into wood. Around here, these are referred to as Tico (not sure about the spelling, but it's pronounced Tea-Co).
Really any heavy gauge nail will go into mortar joints, but the longer they are, the more you have to sink without bending it over.
There are also various masonry nails you could use. The best would be the fluted variety. For this, check out the 2nd link.

3M makes excellent adhesive products designed for your needs. If you plan to hang a heavy object like a plasma TV for example, now is NOT the time to cheese out on the labor. In short if its heavy or made mostly of glass, use screws and lag shields, otherwise adhesives should work well.

i suggest that you use the 3m command adhesive hooks, 'm using them for a long time because i lazy to do drillings and it sticks to absolutely any surface. check it if you have it in your local hardware shop or if the product is not available look for any adhesive hooks, it works

It's called Liquid Nail, get the heavy duty construction grade.

Epoxy would work, but it's permanent. Epoxy is available in the adhesives section of a hardware store.

They make these little suction cups. They probably wont stick though. I would use Velcro. It sticks to everything and if you use enough of it it should hang something moderately heavy.

they're called brick clips. a home improvement store should have them... good luck though, they aren't always reliable or easy to find.
