I would certainly hope not.

Very little research has been done on cannabis.

However, in the past 10 years, most of the research has been done.

It is not anywhere near as harmless as many people believe, or accept as an article of faith. Some are not terribly affected, but some of the population, and the people in their spheres are quite negatively impacted.

Europe is re-criminalizing the use of cannabis due to the research, which began in New Zealand and Australia.

I can not forsee the future, but in my opinion, no.

Why? Because more and more studies reveal the cannabis has negative effects, and the Californians are very careful with the health issues (yes, even with the famous liberal lifestyles they have...)

I think right now is as far as they can get. In some districts of California, when you get caught smoking weed, your punishment merely ends in receiving the ticket. The marijuana enforcement in California is not as harsh as the other states.

It will be legal in the US within the next 10-15 years, when the older people in the government are replaced with new people from a younger generation.
And to the people who say that "research shows that weed has negative effects", what about the effects alchohol and tobacco have? There has been tons of research on those two, and they are MUCH MUCH worse than marijuana, yet they are legal...

Not until it is either removed from the federal DEA controlled substance list, or the federal government gets out of the drug business.

No good reason for it to be so. The US government says it is not even legal for medicinal purposes, unless you have one of the approved doctors in the research program, or use marinol or sativex.

Aren't some Californians stupid enough already without adding to the problem by making stupidity more accessible?

Maybe, but probably not for some time. I think it would take a lot for them to give it the same status alcohol has, but with the amount of people who use it and the fact that marijuana isn't as harmful as alcohol, it certainly has a good argument.
