The birth control pill is 98% effective if taken every single day at the same exact time otherwise your chances of pregnancy are higher. There are women that have gotten pregnant while on the pill. There are many different types of pills and you should consult a doctor to find out which one works best for you. I was on the pill for six years and never got pregnant but every females body is different.

I don't know the specific statistics or percentages, but I do know that if you take your pill EVERY DAY at about the SAME TIME every day and use as directed, your chances of becoming pregnant are very low. There is one exception: If you are on certain medications such as antibiotics, they will make the birth control pill less effective so you should use a back-up method or abstain while you are on those certain medications.

I suggest contacting a local pharmacy and asking in specific about the kind of brith control pills you are on (or are going to be on) about the percentage and statistics if you are curious.

The 98% effective is what the industry says. And yes,, they qualify it with a few 'if's. This means that if you have sex 100 times, chances are that you will get pregnant twice. Well, I had sex 100 times and I got pregnant twice.

Condoms are only 80 - 90% effective,, with a lot of 'if's. and a guy can get an std while using a condom.

So, if you are considering having sex, then figure in that you are probaably going to get pregnant sooner or later, and be ready for that,,, and if you're not ready to get pregnant then you're not ready for sex right now either.

2%-5% chance of getting pregnant on the pill, if taken correctly.

NOT very... but they say there is a possible 2% chance...and if you really don't want to get pregnant even a 2% chance is WAY too much. So use a secondary form of birthcontrol as well, mens or womens condoms. :)

Certain medications, such as antibiotics, can decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills.

well isn't it like 99.7%. so 1 in the 3000.For it to be accurate you need to take it at a specific time each day. So I would say not highly effective. Now if you add a condom to the equation I'd say you're good to go!
