umm well it depends if u are really cutting to make something on ur skin design or whatever then call it as u see it dont think it really looks like "body art" though or is the real reason ur asking is cause ur a cutter and need to hide it and wanna pull it off as body art.. i know someone who used to be a cutter and they did it to relive pain on the inside and would come up with all kinds of excuses as to why she had cuts on her hands and wrist and arms belived it the first few times but then i caught on.

That depends on the kind. There is a body art called scarification and it is basically cutting your skin, whether it be with a tattoo gun using no ink or an actual knife.

Cutting is usually done to alleviate pain (in the eyes of those who do the cutting). It is a dangerous activity that often becomes addictive to the cutter. The scars last a life time and there is nothing artistic about it.

My arms hurt even just thinking about this. Yes "cutting" is kind of a body art.. more of a modification. Its termed "scarification" actually.
This is where a design is cut in to or actually out of your skin with various levels of deepness.
Personally I think this is creepy. But there are people who do it.
I have seen some designs years after they are healed and it looks kinda neat.. but actually doing it is really gross.

Cutting is a form of self abuse. It may eleviate pain from emotional abuse, loneliness, ect. but it is very damaging and can only get worse in intensity and frequency.
Go get some help. Lots of info online for this and self help groups. I would start w/a good friend for support and a good doctor to guide you. I'm wishing you the best of health.

If you're referring to "cutting" as in making slices on your skin, then no, it is not body art. It is hurting yourself and you need to seek help right away.

If you are talking about self mutilation, no!! The scars are a ugly reminder of pain. I wish people weren't beginning to glorify cutting! Work on the problem, don't glorify it!

no. no. no. the only ones i know that 'cut' do it out of self hatred and a desire to punish themselves for something undefined in their heads. cutting is a symptom of a bigger issue, and it isn't done to beautify the body. it is meant to scar and damage.
