Is it legal to work in two companies in India simultaneously?

1) Director of 1 company and employee in another company
2) Director of 1 compnay and contracting employee in another company?

You can,

but all depends upon the following

In case of Directors they have to follow the Article of Association,
In case of Employee you are governed by employment terms and conditions of the company and government laws

If all these are not creating any conflict to each means no matter you can.

its nthing called illegal every company has its own policies u cnt change it the best way to get over such situation is to inform the companies about it and make consultancy as a free lancing option u could nt only work for one cmpny u could work and earn from many companies the market of consultancy business is vast and do not forget to keep on giving innovative ideas with tips and suggestion to the company where u work as an director this is india every thing is possible in a smarter way........

There is no bar, if the company, in which, you are employed, does not have a direct interest, in the company, where you are director and vice-versa.

basically this type of situation is not legal in any country but for some companies it is possible after seeking their permission.
