''old'' movie and/or tv show DURING the decades of or between 1950-1990? Why?

*Mine, ''I Love Lucy'' & the very old game show ''Password'' because they were just fun to watch. Movies are ''The Graduate'' and ''To Kill a Mockingbird'', Graduate because of Dustin Hoffman (great actor and fun to look at lol) and Mockingbird because it was just a great movie (and book), wonderful classic

the Facts Of Life, and The Golden Girls, because they touched on real life issues that we deal with everyday.

TV show would be either Little House on the Prairie or The Mary Tyler Moore Show. I liked the family interaction on Little House and the different characters on MTM show.

Movie: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid: just liked the relationship between the characters. Or, one of the "great" musicals (West Side Story, Carousel, Oklahoma, etc.). I am a sucker for the music.

For movies I have to say I grew up fascinated with the original Star Wars trilogy. I also liked Indiana Jones movies.

I was born in 1979 and I don't remember much TV before 1990, at least TV that didn't suck. 1985 to 1990 must be television's dark years.

Oh my, in these past three years, I've fallen for the older versions of entertainment ... I spent one summer renting film noir flicks, humphrey bogart and all that. It just seemed they were "smarter" than today's stuff but maybe it was just because it was in black and white...

... the Game Show network still shows What's My Line with the incredible Dorothy Kilgallen and Bennet Cerf. Those two were sooo wicked smart, sadly she got into the JFK assasination investigation (I'll link below) and she got killed. I love that show!

True Grit - my favorite John Wayne (and of course Rooster Cogburn) "not bad for a one-eyed fat man".

You mentioned the Harper Lee classic and I'll echo that ... I always related to Scout. Last christmas my mom (age 78) rented it so all her grandkids would be sure to have seen it.

Sonny and Cher, Donny and Marie and Carol Burnett -- Variety shows have left our sights but have not left our hearts.

I still watch M*A*S*H re-runs on cable. I read the book before the movie came out so it's always been one of "my specials".

West Side Story and Gypsy -- both Stephen Sonheim shows from ... '58? WSS's music is still incredible ... the five part "tonight" song (jets, sharks, anita, maria and tony) is one of the most amazing songs ever written for the silver screen or the great white way. And Natalie Wood innocently strutting to "let me entertain you" .... sing out, louise!

I wish I could see the old Dick Cavett show -- he had john lennon and even had performers from woodstock come in, all tired and stoned and muddy. He was so smart and quite clever.

Candid Camera with Alan Funt -- the one that started it all, from americas funniest videos to punk'd ... Mr. Funt was the visionary.

and ... I miss Mr. Rogers .... in some way, he helped us all grow up.

That's a large window of time. I really liked The Wizard of Oz (something about singing to it...I know, I'm strange...whatever). I love Audrey Hepburn, and the 60's was her heyday for movies - Wait Until Dark & Breakfast @ Tiffany's were both the bomb diggity.

I love "Streetcar Named Desire". Marlon Brando was absolutely fantastic in his portrayl of Stanley Kowalski. The classic scene where he goes out into the courtyard and yells for Stella is priceless. I also love East of Eden with James Dean. Not only was he gorgeous in the film his acting was brilliant. The scene where he confronts his dad about his birthday present is so sad. His performance was fantastic.

I love to watch Little House on the Prarie and laugh at it. I love to watch how people with no electricity who live in a cabin have their everyday drama. It's hilarious to see what they fret about compared to present everyday drama.
