Usually you are completely unconscious. I just had my wisdom teeth removed today and was put under general. I felt like I woke up right after I had been put under like no time had passed. It was the weirdest feeling ever. You don't dream or anything. It's like your brain shuts off for a little while.

Depending on what kind it is, I have had over 12 surgerys and I have dreamed I think. It is very confusing. When I woke up I get confused on where I am at because I really thought I was some where else. And I got being in surgery and what ever I was dreaming mixed. A few tests i have read about said people can go into dream state.

I have also had numerous surgeries. Only once I woke with any dreams or illusions. I thought I was walking at the beach.I think it was because of the cuffs they put on your legs to keep the blood circulating. Not a bad place to be when your having major surgery.

Completely unconscious, when I had general anesthesia all I could remember was waking up after everything was over!

One of the drugs they typically give during general anesthesia has an amnesiac (sp?) effect, so I would assume that if you did think or dream about things, you probably wouldn't remember it anyway.
