check around in classified ads or ask someone with horses a good place they can recommend for buying a horse. always bring a vet with you to examine the horse for health problems. you don't want to spend thousands on it and have a lame horse or any more serious diseases.

There is an American Paint Horse Association. Visit their website at www.apha.com. Contact them and they can refer you to breeders and owners in your area.

You can also check horse magazines and newspapers. There are some free publications that are usually regional, such as the Horsetrader in California, or the Yankee Horseman's Peddler in New England that will usually have horses of all breeds listed for sale. These "freebies" are usually available at horse feed stores.

Check and see if there are any horse trainers in your area. They would probably know if someone was selling one. And they can also let you know what kind of horse is the best for your needs. I just bought my daughters horse through a local trainer. he was just what i wanted and they let my daughter ride him a few times to see if it was what she wanted. It was great and they were a big help with everything.
