It sounds like you have caught something.

If you are in doubt about whether your software is genuine, run Windows Update, it will tell you if you are not.

Run your antiviris and antispyware software, it sounds like they are trying to panic you.

If its truely your copy of XP, or your the original owner of the computer,
Then

Double click the message and slect your location.
If you have the code that came with the PC Click the enter new key. The code may be located on a sticker on the tower of the PC. Or bottom if its a laptop.

Depending on if you have the sticker or not,

If you have the sticker, click the change key, enter the key off the sticker. and click next and finish.

If you do not have the key or when finishing step one you get the same message again. then call the 1800 number, follow rhe instructions, and enter the code provided, it will verify your code for you. (if its valid). If not and you still believe that your the original owner of the pc, you can talk to a rep, and he will ask you some purchase information, and validate the code for you.

It means your system is not legal and that you need to buy a actual key, but heres the trick to getting your windows to work right. look for another computer that has an xp key on it. it is a little sticker on the back or side panel of the computer, you can also use the xp keys off of laptops that is located underneath. type in that key in the activation window and call Microsoft. When they ask you about the key tell them what computer it came from. dont show any kind of fear or they will know something is up. after they verify the key they'll give the activation code that you must type in. after that your computer will be legal. This information that i am telling you is true and I have tried it alot my self. mainly because i am a computer technician at a computer store and we have to do those kind of things everyday.

First restore your computer, the disc to do so that should have come with it. It is time consuminhg and brings it back to the original state of purchase. Download any information you want to keep to diskettes or CD and start over. Then add back any hardware required you may have bought after the original computer by reinstalling them. Now, go to yahoo downloads and get Yahoo tool bar with spyware. It's free and the spyware is excellent. It will locate and destroy spyware and unwanted cookies in minutes. Get a good security system (Norton or Mcaffee) and install that. Your computere will tell you when it is at risk from that point on and you will have the tools to correct it yourself.

Weel, it can be a hoax, but it can be real too. A friend of mine had that too because of using non genuine windows.

So, are you using genuine windows or not?

You'd better purchase it, but NOT via the link given. Purchase it somewhere else, preferably at a reliable software retail. In case of a hoax.

It means you don't have an antivirus program.
If your copy of windows is bogus, you get a pop up that says "This copy of windows is not genuine".
