I am a college student, so please treat me as such. Anyway, I had plans to go out with my best friend and another girl after I had dinner with a guy I am interested in this evening. The third girl couldn't make it, and so my best friend and I decided not to go do what we had been planning to do. I was still hanging out with the guy at this point (because I hadn't seen him in three months, after all) and my best friend invited me to go to a movie instead. I had already expressed to her my lack of interest in seeing the movie earlier today, so I declined. She replied "Boys ruin everything!" The conversation did end on a good note and we are not fighting, but I have tried every way I can think of to make this girl understand that I am not going to just dump my girlfriends to go follow a guy, and she still doesn't believe me! How can I make it clear to her that girlfriends do and will always come first? I didn't ditch her and I wouldn't have gone to the movie with or without the guy.

I think that your friend showed a lack of insensitivity on her part. If you already planned to go out with this guy for dinner before meeting with your best friend and she knew your plans in advance, she was very insensitive to place a guilt trip on you.

What would she have said if you had planned to go to dinner with another classmate who happened to be a female - would she have made such an issue then?

You need to lead your life in the way which will put you on the best track for happiness and success. You need to live your life for yourself and not your best friend. If you do not date this guy, there is no way that you will know if he was the man of your future or not. She has no right to interfere with your social life as long as she is also a part of your social life.

Perhaps you can set up a few double dates before a solo date and this wil allow her to give you some valuable "third eye" observations. If she truly cares about you and wants you to be happy, she will only give valid criticism (if there is any criticism) so that you can avoid potential mistakes.

You need to change your priorities to the following:
1. Your life needs come first.
2. Your friends and family come second.

This means that you should not have to avoid dating a guy because your friends feel neglected. You sould avoid dating a guy if your friends point out danger signs that you are not seeing (i.e. he has a history of abuse, cheating, lying, abandoning...).

I hope that this is helpful to you and I wish you all the best.

This woman is genuinely no chum of yours. a real chum would not make relaxing of you in front of your friends. Her little trick of imitating you and then guffawing approximately it shows all of them that it is o.k. to snort at you. Going after a guy which you like is her way of showing you that she is greater acceptable to you. it isn't the act of a chum. You already say that her strikes are stupid and stressful. perhaps it's time to spend time with people who're no longer stupid and stressful and who surely such as you and comprehend the thank you to be buddies.

1st, you can't make her do anything. 2nd let it go, If she thinks Boys ruin everything, then boys ruin everything. Sounds like she is just hurt not being with you, so take that in account and be her friend.
Good Luck
