It's like a rest stop when you're on a trip. You normally don't feel rushed when you're in the restroom. Everywhere else you're pretty much on the go, but in a restroom, you're resting. I guess you could ask why it's called a "bathroom" since public restrooms don't have baths....

Because they can't call it a bathroom because most public ones don't have a tub.
Many restrooms are at some kind of a rest stop somewhere.

Living with morons, that's usually the only place in the whole damn house where you can have some peace and quiet. Then sometimes people follow you to the bathroom as well or either want to come in and use the sink while you're doing something else. Sometimes it feels good to rest your buns on cold, hard porcelain, well, not in the wintertime.

I think people go in there to rest and get away for a while. They can lock the door etc. I guess in public there is no bath so no bathroom?
