Interesting. I'll mark my place here, and come back to flesh out my answer.
First we must sort out our definitions. For fifty years we have been taught there were two world wars: The Great War starting in the 1910s, and the sequel starting in the 1930s.
Some people think the third world war was the cold war, between the West and Communism, fought on a number of battlefields, for Americans, mostly they will remember Korea and Vietnam. Aside: The Korean War has never ended, it is under a UN ceasefire.
A part of the cold war, is deemed in the USA "The Cuban Missile Crisis". USA took a bit of interest in the government of Cuba. Initially they wanted Batista dead because he was strengthening organized crime in the USA. There is a possibility they provided assistance to Castro's efforts to take over the country. Nevertheless, USA placed missiles in Turkey and Italy prior to USSR attempting to place missiles in Cuba. So the Soviet placement of missile technology in Cuba can be viewed both as a retaliation for the Turkish missiles, and an attempt to establish a beachhead in the Americas for the spread of Communism.
If the Communists had paid attention to Marx, rather than pursue their personal interests of power and glory, they would have recognized that less developed countries are not suited for Communism. But that is how power-hungry people and politics worked at that time.
No, I do not think any country is developed enough for Communism to be a viable governmental body, and am more of a Libertarian. I don't expect any country or society to be sufficiently developed to sustain Communism in its original state for hundreds of years, and see no reason to support the efforts of misguided political apparatchiks.
However, there have been a number of geopolitical conflicts where the West has either directly fought communist forces or supported those fighting communists.
I will leave that discussion to pointing out that many think the Cold War was WW3. Some of them mistakenly think(hope, actually), it ended with the fall of the Berlin Wall and the dissolution of the USSR. Wrong. It continues to this day. Short answer, look to much of South America. But they just use communism as a tool to advance their purposes of challenging the west. The world is highly developed today because of protections of individual intellectual and property rights.
Now if you view the current excitement as world war 3, you should still look to the events as an escalation of the Cold War, primarily orchestrated by China, with assistance from other countries who wish an alliance with China.
Socio-economic reasons are the primary reasons for the current hostilities. Most of the people of the world are desperately poor. It is easy to blame own's problems on another. USA and other foreign governments make easy targets.
Recently, Iranian students tried to protest for a change in their government, by engaging the very political groups who are repressing them. May they rest in peace.
It is acceptable to point the blame to an outsider, without too much repercussions towards the protestors and their families. This is a tactic of organizing a political base for change.
USA hasn't really suppressed Islam, but at the current rate of affairs, USA and Europe and India and other non-muslim states, will, unless those aggressor states marshall their endeavors to raise the standards of living and education of their own citizens rather than blame outsiders, and attack them. The responsibility for cleaning up their own affairs resides with them.
We are very close to a world war. Many things will not survive. Islam will not survive due to the long-term aggressions they have perpetrated on their neighbors and the world. China has little use for any religion, and may continue to assist Islam as a tool to diminish the resources of the west, and then China will crush Islam, and most of their populations. China has a history of this.
So really, World War 3, really had it's first outbreak in Korea, and is currently heating up due to some short-sighted leaders of countries who challenge the West and India.
Many people will suffer and die, but the primary losers will be those who do not understand the new winners; USA-NATO, China, and India.
I personally wish we could all marshall our resources to create things, but we live in the real world, with real nasty politicians seeking personal power and gain.
Peace.

In 2000 the US Supreme Court stopped the vote counting in Florida which would have shown that Al Gore won the election, thereby allowing the usurper Bush to move into the White House.

If Israel is attacked by a muslim state and when Israel is about to be defeated, the third world war would emerge if America, at that time, remains the super power.

Wars are always the same, greed is the reason. Somebody wants what someone else has. If you think it is because of morals or forms of government it isn't. What is happening now may escalate but right now but hopefully cooler heads will prevail and our government will change for the better after the November election.

first of all, the media on no account "glamorized" the Iraq conflict protesters! Are you kidding me? They made a fool out of Cindy Sheehan for chrissake! Get genuine. 2nd of all, the anti-conflict protesters on no account confirmed UP AT city hall conferences WITH weapons, threatening the lives of the politicians with whom they disagreed. somewhat, they sought communicate which became regularly grew to become down, and used non-violent potential of protest to make their factor. 0.33-- i think of Obama is open to "severe debate." What he's no longer open to, and what he should not be open to, is the paranoid rantings of The Stupids approximately death panels (and death books, now), compelled euthanasia, rampant aborting of fetuses, government bureaucrats dictating who your well being practitioner would be and how lots remedies you are going to be able to or won't receive. severe debate might encompass themes bearing directly to fee containment and investment; ensuring determination for each American; get entry to; accountability; overall performance rankings; etc. Having suggested all that, nevertheless, I DO trust the final 3 paragraphs of the essay. definite, Obama's aura and visual attraction, somewhat than the substance of his politics, drew various human beings to his marketing campaign. definite, there became various hero-worship in touch, that's an unlucky and trans-occasion American phenomenon; and definite, Obama is not any FDR.
