How much impact are we talking about? Unauthenticated connections, authenticated user shares, shared printers, applications access ...?

I always disable the Guest Account, as its a common back door for hackers to get in by.

To date just disabling has not caused me any problems.

Disable the account in the user section of control panel.

There is no reason for it to happen, as once its disabled, its not likely to be needed for any other start function that I have come across since Win XP first came out.
