I know...being skinny is the United States way of "THINKING"...BUT THERE ARE PLUS SIZE MODELS...some very attractive...you may want to go in a store for plus size people and ask do they have any modeling agencies for Plus Size women??? who knows...you could be just what the agency needs!!!You are absolutely correct not everyone needs to be paper thin...some thinness is NOT healthy!!! (PS. I wish your Dad would not have "laughed"...that is a form of abuse if he laughed in front of your face....whether he is "aware" or not...plus saying that you are too fat....that is wrong)...But as you know, some men are just not aware how it hurts!!!He needs to go to "awareness training",.....BUT MOST MEN WILL NOT GO...SO IT IS USELESS TO EVEN TELL THEM...their mind is already set!!!so sorry!! Move out when you can...that's all i can suggest!!!

First of all, it is extremely hard to become a model. Many scouts start looking for potential models that range from the ages of 12-14. You have to go through several "interviews" and rejection after rejection. My advice to you is if you can't take negative comments on your dream then perhaps you won't make it in the real world. You need to be "tough-skinned." You may be able to model for several other things like catalogs.

Listen sweetness....people are cruel. Most people are not a size 6 like they tell you on t.v.. First things first... your daddy seems to have problems of his own. As for you....if you feel good about your body then don't you let anyone try to change your mind. If you want to go out and try to make people see you for who you really are then go and do it. Keep your dreams alive and your daddy will see someday that you will be someone, beautiful inside and out. You can do anything you want to if you put your mind to it. Don't ever loose sight of the real you. Beautiful women come in all shapes and sizes.... keep your head up girl and always follow your dreams. You are not crazy!!! Good luck.

Your not crazy for wanting to be a plus size model, but you are crazy thinking you can change that many people's opinions. You could change some people's opinions, but our society is very superficial and good looks and being thin will always be inter-wined together. It is mean that your dad laughed at you though.

No, girls have a bad self image, they think they are supposed to look like a rail in order to be pretty. I think it great that you wanna be a plus size model..Good Luck to ya. Most of our population now are way bigger than we used to be. I remember on TV they said the average size for a woman was a size 12.

Is that what you believe? I don't think so Try Model search America (they are ALWAYS looking for Plus size Models.) Oh and show your Dad this Article I found for you ON a plus size Model SITE > plus-size model is a female fashion model who wears a dress size 12 or higher (in North American sizing). Plus-size modeling is growing, with agency divisions being created to specifically locate and develop potential models to serve the apparel industry. High fashion designers are also starting to look more closely at the earning potential from this sector of the industry and have started booking plus-size models for their advertising images and showings. Jean-Paul Gaultier and John Galliano both cast plus-size models in their Spring 2006 showings in Paris.
Emme (Melissa) Aronson is acknowledged as the first plus-size model to achieve widespread recognition in the United States, due partly to being chosen for a Revlon cosmetics campaign, as well as appearing nude in People magazine in 1997, and appearing on their 50 Most Beautiful People lists in 1994 and 1999.
Celebrities who wear plus-size clothing have increasingly been attracting endorsement contracts as advertisers seek to extend size-acceptance into the film, TV and music industries. One example of this trend is Queen Latifah who appears in on-going advertising for Cover Girl cosmetics. In Canada, well-known actress Christina Schmidt appears in the popular TV series, Degrassi: The Next Generation as a plus-size model, and currently models for Torrid.
Some people view the advent of plus-size modeling as a revival of the voluptuous Classical ideal of feminine beauty, as defined by sculptures such as the Venus de Medici and the Winged Victory of Samothrace--i.e., the aesthetic ideal that generally prevailed throughout Western history, until well into the twentieth century.
Models for plus-size clothing include:
Barbara Brickner
Charlotte Coyle
Sophie Dahl
Kate Dillon
Emme
Diane Hernandez
Lara Johnson
Syleena Johnson
Toccara Jones
Natalie Laughlin
Valerie Lefkowitz
Kimberley Locke
Crystal Renn
Sage Salzer
Christina Schmidt
Tracie Stern
Mia Tyler
Liis Windischmann
Oh and PLESSE don't let people tell you that you NEED to lose weight, Its been proven that heavy woman are not UNHEALTHY, a person (man or woman) can be perfectly healthy and be a heavy person. Society tells us we have to be a 3 or 5 to be beautiful NOT TRUE!!! And the people who DO believe that are shallow and materialistic, they only want the "trophy's " on their arms. (Wish I could show you which finger I'm giving to just such peeps)LMAO
