and since then I've been getting severe back pain in that area as well as some leg weakness. Nobody can seem to tell me what might be wrong and I can't find any similar stories on the internet. Any thoughts?

I am not asking for your opinion on getting tattoos or anything like that. Also, as I guy it is rare thing for me to even have a lower back tatoo. No hating please..... just looking for advice.

you probably have a bad or slipped disk in your lower back.... they tatto needles should have never gotten far enough to damage a nerve so no worry there...... i would have your spine checked by a doctor for x-rays and possibly an MRI

I once heard of a women getting a tattoo on her upper arm. She ended up having to get her lymph nodes and breast removed on the same side. The ink poison her. I know that is rare, but it could be a risk.

IT COULD BE SEVERAL THINGS. YOU MAY HAVE AN ALLERGY TO THE INK OR AN INFECTION FROM THE TATTOO ITSELF.... THE ARTIST MAY HAVE HIT THE SMALL NERVE ENDINGS IN YOUR BACK.... OR MAYBE IT JUST DOESN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE TATTOO AT ALL. FROM THE SOUNDS OF THINGS IT MAY BE THAT YOU HAVE PINCHED YOUR SCIATIC NERVE. THIS CAN BE DONE MANY WAYS......SOMETIMES JUST BY SLEEPING OR BENDING THE WRONG WAY...........BEST THING TO DO WOULD BE TO SEE A DOCTOR ASAP, JUST IN CASE. GOOD LUCK!!!

Bad ink, infection. Tattoos are never a good idea. I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble. I suggest you see doctor soon.

Get some LANACANE spray, it just might do the trick as a topical anesthetic antiseptic spray. You seem to have a serious issue; see your family practioner, you don't want it to get worse.
