Is it possible to record from the DISH DVR through my TV tuner to a CD? Also I can't get my TV speakers to work when I play a DVD from my laptop to my TV

Yes it is possible to record from a Dish DVR, but as far as through the TV tuner it depends if you have AV outs on the TV. I record from my DVR through the second set of outputs on the DVR, to a DVD recorder. As for a laptop, assuming what you have available for hook ups, if the TV has Audio (L) and (R) inputs and you run a cable from your laptop from the audio out it should work. The laptop may have Left (White RCA jack) and Right (red RCA Jack) or a combined output such as a stereo 8th inch jack, that requires a Y cable. The yellow RCA jack is for line level video. You may even have "super video'', thats a multi pin video only jack. I hope I haven't made it worse. Good Luck. Are you trying to record on DVD or CD? To DVD,i think, you can but not to CD. Both, DVR and TV, have to be turned on the same channel. Good luck!
