For some, it's a "power" thing, for others it's simply a "comfort" thing, others still it's a "gender role" thing, and the rest is a mixed bag of "I work outside," "I'm a F2M tran," and even like my son's girlfriend "because guys jeans have more style!"
(Really, she said this today as we were shopping with my son for clothes. She actually bought two pairs of guys jeans for herself...and she's SOOO VERY Feminine...the next thing she bought were an adorable pair of espadrilles {shoes})
I've been known to don my own chukkas, tool belt, t-shirt and jeans when I've got a lot of outside work to do, when I'm doing some renovation work on the house or if I'm helping a friend move.
But I also wear the occasional skirt or dress. I prefer jeans and a really cut top, but that's because I'm an artist and wearing skirts all time just doesn't work with what I do.

I think you mean as men rather than males. i say this because man is a gendered term that goes hand in hand with the performance of man-gender including clothes, fragrances, body language etc.
sexes have very little to do with gender aside from socialization.
now, to exploar your question, about clothes. clothing choice and body sculpting such as haircuts, dieting/weightlifting, shaving etc are social constructs. so, it is not really unnatural for a woman to dress any way. i mean, it isn't a matter of biology because if it were she couldn't dress in such a way or wear hair in such a way. it is social because it is a matter of "may" not "can." erm, i'm wondering if i've confused people...
Anyway, speaking of dynamic, these things, clothing and hair, might not signal any dynamic whatsoever. it could be a matter of physical comfort. women's clothing is generally more constricting to movement, or more exposing, and often of lower quality fabrics when it comes to matters of wear and tear. As far as short hair styles, this could be very convenient if working a job where hair getting in the way poses a problem, or if temperatures are too high, etc. some people don't like the hassle of dealing with long hair.
Hope this has provided a few different insights into your gender pondering.

I am assuming that you mean "underLying" not "underKying"...
It means that womens clothes are uncomfortable and restrictive. I have a very short haircut and a bit of a faux-hawk with very blonde highlights. I wear khakis most of the time and jeans on occasion. I wear polo's to work and T's the rest of the time. Do you know what this means??? Let me tell you, I am comfortable in this and in my skin and I don't care what other people think of me, I am myself I like being comfortable, and my message is this - I like fashion, I like being comfortable, I think mens clothes are WAY nicer than womens both in comfort and look. And if the fact that my T-shirt says "I Heart Hot Moms" and I am a chick sends the message that I am a raging dyke then I guess that might be part of the message too...

Honey, some of the jeans they have out now(I detest those "skinny" jeans) I can't stand them. Sometimes I wear guy clothes sometimes because they're comfy(otherwise I rock a mini faster than a cat can lick their ***!). I love to dress up, and I have a rockin' short haircut that both men and women dig. There is no "underlying" message, sweetie. People just feel comfy wearing what they want(whether they dress as a truck stop hooker or an investment banker), no matter who they are or who they love.

I am 19 years old I have extremely short hair; I have shaved it twice. I do this because I look better with shorter hair, longer hair frames my face wrong and ‘adds 10 lbs’. I look older and less sloppy with short hair. I don’t cut my hair short cause I’m lazy or gay, I just look better.
I wear (what most people call) “male” and “female” clothing, although I prefer loose shirts and skirts. However, I wear ‘boy’ pants cause I have a bubble butt, no waist, and large thighs; ‘girl’ pants look and feel awkward. Not every girl is designed to fit into ‘girl jeans’. Yes, I own many ‘guy’ shirts, but I think they are more comfortable. Women dress for fashion, men dress for comfort, especially with underwear. For me, comfort outweighs fashion
However, I am also straight. Throughout middle school, high school and college I have been called every slang for a lesbian, but I have gotten used to it. I have always felt myself more comfortable in short hair. With long hair, I feel I am hiding myself from everyone, and I look like every other blonde haired girl.
For the most part, I like men’s fashion better. I think they dress hotter then most women, and no I do not want to me a man, I think they just dress more spiffy. I am not trying to tell people I am a dyke, but myself. People are just too ignorant to adjust to change.
Who are we to judge what is ‘male’ and ‘female’. Remember, makeup was originally worn my men only.

definite, I thoroughly agree. that does no longer recommend i think of it truly is ideal, yet our society has a diverse outlook than I do. i think of a number of it has to do with the feminist circulate. it truly is extra suitable for a girl to act extra dominate or gown extra like a guy, because of the fact women persons have fought for an prolonged time to be positioned on the comparable point as adult adult males. basically a a hundred years in the past it wasn't suitable for women persons to look this way, yet with our society changing and the feminist circulate it truly is appropriate. i think of the only reason that it is not suitable for adult adult males is using the fact it truly is basically about like "downgrading" as undesirable as that sounds, yet it is how society perspectives it. Our society thinks a guy might desire to be a guy. we've additionally come an prolonged way while it includes gender roles interior the LGBTQ community. interior the LGBTQ community it truly is extra suitable to deal with any gender function you pick without persons looking down upon it as plenty. i'm hoping sometime that our finished society would be waiting to realize that it truly is okay to look and gown inspite of the undeniable fact which you sense.

i dress in male clothes because they fit me better than female clothes, and they r more comfortable. even though i am a lesbian it has nothing to do with my relationship i have always dressed in male clothing. i like them better and i can find the styles that fit my personality . oh, and i have short hair because i work outside and it is so much easier to take care of. and i do style my hair EVERY day.

Hmmm no one ever asked why I had long hair and wear joggers all the time so maybe it's best to let people dress and be the way they want without question.
