The surest way to get rid of a toothache is to see a dentist to get the tooth fixed. Cold water will hurt the nerves in the tooth. Anbesol works really good but doesn't last very long. See your dentist, and fast.

Warm salt water will also cleanse the area for you, but don't drink it, just slosh it around in your mouth around the tooth that is hurting.

Usually oil of clove or rinsing with hydrogen peroxide works really well when the nerve is riled up. Warm salt water rinse is effective also and as weird as this seems, try placing an un-used tea bag (slightly moistened) where the involved tooth is located. The tea draws out the toxins that have irritated the nerve and it usually decreases the throbbing pain.

Don't even think of drinking cold water! Extreme temperatures will just irritate it further. Good Luck!

First you should go to a doctor who will prescribe an antibiotic so the infection that you probably have will stop, or for an instant pain relieve, crush an aspirin and put it over the hurting teeth or a clove like the ones you use to cook. That will work but only temporary, go see a doctor.

try Excedrin PM or Tylenol PM, rinse with warm salt water and place a warm moist compress on your face on top of the tooth. You should see a dentist ASAP. I had a toothache that I ignored too long and I ended up needing a root canal.

You need to go to a dentist right away because the tooth can get abscessed and you can actually die from this. If you cannot afford a dentist, ask for a payment plan.

I've found that Advil works for me. Of course, you should also see a dentist to determine why the tooth is hurting...could be a cavity.

There's always the sweet release of death.
Before trying that, you might want to take an anti-inflammatory. I'd avoid extremes of hot or cold in your mouth--these may aggravate the problem.

You said no creams, but Orajel or Anbesol does work wonders! Or, you could try Extra Strength Tylenol or Aleve for now...Monday, call your dentist!
