Go talk to your optometrist. Ask if you can get contacts. They'll probably say yes, and get you a trial pair based on your glasses prescription (it will be slightly different, because contacts work a bit differently). You'll have to go back fairly often for the first little while to make sure the trial pair is working correctly. Once you get a prescription that works, you'll have the option to buy a year's worth.

At least, that's how it worked for me.

Tell your eye care professional that you are interested in getting contacts. They will do all the measurements and help you decide the right kind of lenses to get. One word of caution though is to stay far away from the extended wear lenses..the ones you can sleep in and wear for up to a week. Even though they are supposed to be safe, my sis got an ulcer on her cornea and now cannot wear contacts. Also be sure to let you eye care professional know of any problems you are having with the lenses. I've been wearing the same brand for the last 20 years, but switched to a new brand this year due to dry eyes. They have these awesome new lenses that allow more oxygen to pass through the material so I dont have to use eye drops daily anymore.

You need to go see your optometrist. What he will likely do is to redo the regular eye exam that is basically the same test as you have been getting, but also do some additional tests so that he can dispense you the correct lens for your eyes.

Every-body's eyes are different. Because of it, in addition to the "power" (called diopters) of the lens, the contact lens come in different curvature and the diameters. Unless the size of the lens and the shape is a good match for your eyes, they will not fit.

The consequences are, as you blink, the lens do not move (YES, the contact lens are supposed to slide on your eyes), fall off, or grip too tightly.

Also, your optometrist will make you come back few times in weeks interval to make sure your eyes are tolerating this "foreign body" well. Expect to having have to try several pairs until he can find the one that works for you. There are multiple brands and it's a guessing game which one will work the best for you.

You will likely experience some irritation for few days.

You should ask your doctor to see if you are a candidate for daily wear lenses. These are the kind you wear it for one day and throw it away. Because they are "fresh" out of the package everyday, there are less chances of getting infections, and while they cost more to purchase, you end up paying about the same because there are no solution to purchase.

You have to go get a contact lense eye exam at your optometrist. They measure the size of you eye, and then it's pretty much like a normal glasses eye exam. You definately need an eye exam specifically for contacts. Then it takes like a week for the contacts to come in.

It's the same prescription with additional info about the shape/curvature of the eyes - it usually doesn't cost extra & doesn't take much time.

hey there...i have worn contacts since i was in the sixth grade & im now 25. They are amazing, my site (even though its the same Rx) is much better with contacts. But to answer your question, you have to go to an eye doctor to get all the corret measurments of your eye & the correct bend of your eyes. it is a different Rx so you do have to go to the doc. Good Luck!!!

Ask eye specialist. But i guess you should wear spectacles only because lenses can hurt your eyes.
