I'm watching the storm as well. I am also worried about my personal belongings, this is normal. I didn't move, and am still here. The prediction is for the storm to hit closer to Florida now, but these things change. There is not really that much we can do about it, board up, secure outside items, ect.

I think in the big picture of life we are not supposed to be worried about our worldly goods. I do also believe that some things we are so used to having can make it very difficult to be without. We are material people as a whole I guess you could say. I hope your stuff is ok and good luck with the storms.

Well, honey, just think about it for a minute. In the big picture - people drowning in their attics, losing their loved ones and homes, how big a deal is it in comparison to loose your 98 %? If you found yourself alive after floating in your attic for 2 weeks, wouldn't that be all that was really important? All the other stuff is just "things" and you can live without or gradually replace "things"

If you lost your life you wouldn't worry. What is more important your belongings or your life? Belongings can always be replaced your life cannot.

which would you rather have, your life or your television, computer, clothes, etc. as long as you have your life you can continue to get these possessions again and again. when a disaster is about to strike, people should make sure they have a suitcase of clothes, legal information (Social Security Number, birth certificate), and money. face it, americans have become so "materialistic."

be happy to have escaped with your life, but it's only natural to worry about things that you've worked hard to gain, or have sentimental value. don't waste too much time on it tho.

It's not so much that you shouldn't worry about possessions.
It's just that, between possessions and people, you should worry about people more.
