Well, here in the United States we kind of look at China as a threat at the moment. Because some say that the Chinese are building up there military for a potential war with the United States. So the United States has increased it's military spending for new state of the art technology. And it doesn't come cheap! The United States is now spending half a trillion dollars a year for new weapons and military related things. It is also keeping the "New Weapons" a secret, instead of showing them off like usual, in movies and such. Some say the United States is becoming more powerful by the day due to the massive military spending. Every year the United States spends more and more money on its military. Nobody wants a war with China but some experts say it is in the future because of the Taiwan issue. But nobody really seems to know.
Some also say that if the United States and China were to go to war, then the United States would quit buying and investing so much in China and go to India to spend all its money. Which would cause a wave of allies of the United States to do the same thing. Which in the future would cripple China and cause its economy to collapse. Everyone knows a war with a major country such as the United States, China, India and even Japan could cause a major devastating blow to every country in the world in one way or another. But we hope it never comes to that. God Bless You All!

authoritarian type regime that is trying to have its cake and eat it also, the free market will eventually collapse the current government in time, even the strict chinese can't hold back the tide of change.
china really doesn't have its own support base and relies heavily on exporting, they are building way to much to fast, it kind of like everyone jumping on the ame boat at once. china is introducing sweeping economic growth controls, but many fear the crash will come by 2010.
america pretty much is floating china's economy, america's buying power is funneling the money into china, so when america sinks into an economic slump, so will china, china needs to diversify its exports more, but its american companies that are setting up and contracting out in china.
they say china and america are enemies, it seems only the old men in control think so, maybe they need a new cold war to keep them occupied? taiwan is a sore spot, but i beleive that is an internal problem, none of america's business.
i think china and america could be great partners if we had the right leaders in office, instead of the bullheaded ones that we both seem to always have, i always thought we could have done better relations with the USSR also.
besides that, i like chinese food, general tso's chicken is my favorite!

Chinese.
I think you seem to the world very secretive! You also are very focused and live in a very frugal manner! We don't hear of your people starving, while we don't tend to take care of our own!
I think most people in this country underestimate you militarily, though I think conventionally you have probably the best army in the world.
When you have disagreements with your government it seems that you do stand up against issues that concern you! I am not sure how your judicial system works, or doesn't!

China is percieved as next super power who is stealing US jobs by outsourcing and relocation of factories. Chinese people are considered very hard working and intellegent but relatively rigid!

I think there are way too many of you willing to work for way too little. We really admired the Tienanmen Square revolutionaries.
