Average weight???? 200 lbs. Recommended weight 125.

BMI is just a number.....pls do not let this rule you life. There is so much more to being a "person" Never Never let yourself or anyone else tell you "you are wrong".

People come in all weights and shapes...60% of us are overweight...so we are "normal" and they are "under weight".

The BMI is an old idea of weight....the idea is from 1830-1850....ya think that is good idea now???

Truth is the richer a country is the fatter we get.....that is a result of wealth, period!

the ones who do not gain weight:

Crack whores
Vegans....this is a new religion....
O/C folks that run, exercise, and starve.
Quote: Body mass index (BMI) or Quetelet Index is a statistical measure of the weight of a person scaled according to height. It was invented between 1830 and 1850 by the Belgian polymath, Adolphe Quetelet during the course of developing "social physics".

The BMI has become controversial because many people, including physicians, have come to rely on it for medical diagnosis - but that has never been the BMI's purpose. It is meant to be used as a simple means of classifying sedentary (physically inactive) individuals with an average (mesomorphic) body composition. For these individuals, the current value settings are as follows: a BMI of 25 may indicate optimal weight; a BMI lower than 18.5 suggests the person is underweight while a number above 25 may indicate the person is overweight; a BMI below 15 may indicate the person has an eating disorder; a number above 30 suggests the person is obese (over 40, morbidly obese).

The BMI is meant to broadly categorise populations for purely statistical purposes. As noted, its accuracy in relation to actual levels of body fat is easily distorted by such factors as fitness level, muscle mass, bone structure, sex, and ethnicity. People who are endomorphic tend to have higher BMI numbers than people who are mesomorphic, because they have greater bone mass and greater muscle mass, respectively, than do mesomorphic individuals.

average weights can vary by so many different factors, such as, build, muscle mass, and genetics. unless there is a health problem i wouldn't worry about the number. it's just a number and different body types can be heavier than others, but that isn't neccesarily a bad thing. you can have a higher weight but still be more fit than a person that weighs less than you.

About 130 lbs, a BMI of 21.7. That's in the middle of the normal BMI range, which is 19 to 24.

Between 120-150. It all depends on how much muscle vs fat you have.

It depends on how you're built. 100 pounds could be normal. 150 pounds could be normal.
