Well we recently our internet went out on both of our Computers in the house, so we called Comcast and had them come here and try to fix it, but they ended up not finding the problem, so they told us to try buying new network cards, well this did not work. So he got us a new modem and got the internet work on one computer by using a USB cable. Now I'm wondering if I can get a USB hub to split my internet to both computers. Does anyone know if this would work? And also is there some stupid Comcast rule that does not allow you doing this?

Forget channeling Internet traffic to USB and buy a router and configure your own internal network contrary to Comcast's policies.

Stop trying to use a sledgehammer to solve a simple problem.

USB hub works BOTH ways so it should work. Your IP is set by your modem, so in theory it should work. Be aware though, USB is slow compared to a NIC or your internet connection. Sounds like your tech didn't know what he was doing, you should call them and get them back out. Maybe you'll get a knowledgeable one this time. Probably they want you to buy a combo modem and router from them.

USB hub goes one way, contrary to what you want, there is such a niche device that goes the other way that you want that runs about $70+, but I have no idea how well it works with splitting such devices. I have doubt of such setup. Perhaps you did not do enough troubleshooting before calling Comcast and network indeed work?

you won't have the capacity to apply a in many situations occurring USB hub to community a printer. What your roomie can do is share the printer and you will connect with her printer by way of her laptop (sure, it may elect to be on). that's available, yet that relatively user-friendly. area be conscious: I even have some D600's, they are super laptops!
